On The Road Again - Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration

On The Road Again - Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration

The days of June 19-22 brought The Portatos to Leavenworth Washington for the Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration and Competition.

Friday was the big day - the big busy day.  I (Chip) competed in the morning in her solo category, then as soon as I was finished the race was on to make it to the Gazebo for the Portatos' 11:00 AM performance.

The Leavenworth Gazebo

The concert at the gazebo was fun! Our performance included 'The Pirates of the Caribbean', 'The Final Countdown', 'Surfing USA', and other hit songs.

Just looking at the photos - you can tell we enjoyed ourselves!

That afternoon - the Band Competition brought The Portatos back to the main event hall.

Not serious now!  Time to have some fun with Surfing USA!
There was a really amazing band from the Czech Republic - we applaud them for traveling so far and congratulate them on their first place winnings.  The Portatos didn't mind at all placing second next to them. It was a close competition!
